The short version
Only what DataRestro needs to work: keeping staff signed in, keeping a guest’s order safe across a reload, and letting the point of sale run offline. Our website analytics count visits and load times without cookies or storage on your device. No advertising cookies, and so no consent banner.
This summary helps you read the document; it does not replace it.
1.What we use, and what we do not
Cookies are small files a website places on your device; browser storage (local storage, session storage and IndexedDB) works similarly but keeps data only on your device. This notice covers both, on datarestro.com, the DataRestro business and staff consoles, and the ordering pages and websites restaurants publish with DataRestro.
Everything DataRestro stores on your device is strictly necessary: to keep you signed in, keep a guest’s order safe, or let the point of sale work offline. All of it is first-party: set by DataRestro, not by anyone else. We use no advertising, social-media or session-recording tools.
Separately, our pages load Cloudflare Web Analytics, described in section 4. It stores nothing on your device and sets no cookies. Because nothing optional is stored on your device, we do not show a cookie banner. If we ever want to store something that is not strictly necessary, we will update this notice first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
3.Browser storage
Guests ordering from a restaurant
| Name | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
dr-guest:… | Remembers the orders you placed at this table or site and any order still being sent, so a reload or a trip to your payment app never loses or duplicates an order. Also keeps the last menu you saw for when the connection drops. | 12 hours |
public-cart | The items in your cart before you place the order. | Until you close the tab |
dr-qr-access:… | A private key that lets this browser, and only this browser, see the status of the order you placed. | Until you clear your browser storage |
public-theme | Light or dark appearance, if you choose one. | Until you change it |
Restaurant owners and staff
| Name | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
restro-pos-auth | Your short-lived sign-in token and basic profile (name, role, restaurant) so the console knows who is signed in. | Until you sign out |
datarestro-pos | The point of sale’s offline database on that device: menu, tables, staff names and roles, printers, stock levels and orders waiting to be sent, so service continues without a connection. | Until the device is reset or storage cleared |
datarestro-device-key | Identifies the device to the Service when offline orders are sent. | Until storage is cleared |
datarestro-favorites:… | The menu items you pinned as favourites at the point of sale. | Until you change them |
kds-station | Which kitchen station this kitchen display shows. | Until you change it |
| App cache | A copy of the app’s own code and images, kept by our service worker so the console loads when offline. It holds no personal data. | Until the next update |
Live demo on datarestro.com
| Name | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
restro-demo-v1 | The sample restaurant you are playing with, kept in this tab only. | Until you close the tab |
Our mobile apps keep the equivalent sign-in token in the device’s secure storage instead of a cookie.
4.Website analytics
Pages we serve under datarestro.com, including the business and staff consoles, the demo and restaurant pages on datarestro.com addresses, load a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com for Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare is our hosting provider. When a page loads, the script sends Cloudflare the page address, the address of the page you came from, your browser and device type, and how long the page took to load. Cloudflare also sees your IP address, as it does for every request to our website.
The script sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We use the totals to see which pages are visited and how quickly they load. We do not use them for advertising, combine them with other data or use them to identify you. A content blocker that blocks static.cloudflareinsights.com stops the script, and everything on the site keeps working.
5.Your choices
You can delete cookies and browser storage at any time in your browser settings, or block them. If you do, you will need to sign in again, a guest’s cart and order tracking will not survive a reload, and a point of sale cannot work offline. On a shared device, signing out removes the sign-in data listed above.
Clearing the storage of a point-of-sale device while it has orders waiting to be sent can lose those orders, so make sure it is back online and has finished sending first.
