DataRestro by type of restaurant
A tasting-menu dining room and a bakery that opens at 6am run very differently. This page shows which parts of DataRestro each one relies on most.
Which features each format relies on
Every restaurant gets the whole product. The dots show where each format tends to depend on it most.

Fine dining
Forty covers, two seatings, a tasting menu and a sommelier. The book decides the night; every table needs to feel like the only one.
What the night needs
- Modifiers for allergies, doneness and substitutionsAvailable
- Tickets routed to the right stationAvailable
- Plate cost on a tasting menuAvailable
- Bookings with overlap checks (staff-side)Partial
- Course-by-course firingPlanned
Straight answer: Courses can be held and fired on the kitchen display. Public booking and deposits are on the roadmap.

Casual & modern
Walk-ins, a full floor at 8pm and a menu of momo, burgers and bowls. Speed at the table and at the pass is the whole game.
What the night needs
- Floor plan with live table statusAvailable
- QR ordering straight to the kitchenAvailable
- Split and merge bills without dramaAvailable
- Guests calling for the bill from their phoneAvailable
- Auto-86 when an ingredient runs outPlanned
Straight answer: 86'ing a dish is a manual toggle today; both the POS and QR ordering refuse it on the server the moment it is set.

Café
A queue at 8am, laptops at 2pm, the same thirty faces every week. Milk, beans and pastries are the margin.
What the night needs
- Fast counter POS with modifiers (oat, extra shot)Available
- Loyalty points that survive a refund correctlyAvailable
- Milk and bean usage deducted per cupAvailable
- QR ordering from the tableAvailable
- Stamp-card style promotionsPlanned
Straight answer: Loyalty has points, not tiers or expiry yet. Rule-based promotions are on the roadmap; manual discounts work today.

Quick service
Order at the counter, pay first, collect at the pass. Throughput and consistency beat everything else.
What the night needs
- Takeaway and delivery order typesAvailable
- Combos priced once, everywhereAvailable
- Kitchen display with ticket ageingAvailable
- Order taking that survives a dropped connectionPartial
- Self-order kioskPlanned
Straight answer: Offline covers order taking only; card payments and the kitchen display need the network. Kiosk mode is on the roadmap.

Bakery
Bake at 4am, sell out by noon, throw away what did not sell. Food cost and waste are the whole P&L.
What the night needs
- Recipes with unit conversion (grams against kilo sacks)Available
- Wastage logged with a reasonAvailable
- Supplier purchase orders and receivingAvailable
- Weighted-average cost as flour prices moveAvailable
- Batch production and sub-recipesPlanned
Straight answer: Stock is deducted per item sold, not per batch baked. Batch production is on the roadmap.

Bar
Tabs open for hours, a cocktail list with thirty specs, and a bar that runs its own tickets apart from the kitchen.
What the night needs
- Open orders on a table, settled laterAvailable
- Drinks routed to the bar station, food to the kitchenAvailable
- Cocktail specs costed by the mlAvailable
- Bar order tickets (BOT) on a printerPartial
- Happy-hour price rulesPlanned
Straight answer: Station routing works on screen; the printer driver for BOT/KOT is not written yet.

Cloud kitchen
Orders from phones and delivery apps, riders waiting at the door, and a margin that the commission is trying to eat.
What the night needs
- Delivery order type and kitchen displayAvailable
- Food cost per dish, per dayAvailable
- Own pickup and delivery checkoutPlanned
- Aggregator orders flowing in automaticallyPlanned
- Profit by channel, net of commissionPlanned
Straight answer: Honestly: this format needs online ordering and aggregator adapters, and both are on the roadmap. Aggregator orders are keyed into the POS today.

Groups & multi-brand
Three branches, two brands, one finance team. Everyone wants the same numbers, and nobody wants to reconcile five spreadsheets.
What the night needs
- Tenant → restaurant → branch, isolated and testedAvailable
- Roles scoped per person, revoked instantlyAvailable
- Per-branch reportsPartial
- Per-branch menus and pricesPlanned
- Brand-level menu templates with overridesPlanned
Straight answer: Menus are restaurant-wide today, so a price change applies to every branch of that restaurant.
