Kitchen tickets on a screen, sorted by station and time

When the POS sends an order, each station's screen shows its part straight away with a timer running. Cooks mark tickets as preparing and ready with one tap.

Move tickets through the lanes and filter by station. A new sample ticket arrives every 25 seconds. The age colours are a demo of planned ticket-age thresholds; today each ticket shows its elapsed time.

Routing tickets to stations

Assign each dish to a station once, such as momo, hot line, tandoor or bar. When an order is sent, it is split into a ticket per station, and each screen shows only the dishes that station makes.

  1. 1Tickets appear without anyone refreshing the screen.
  2. 2Three lanes: New, Preparing and Ready. One tap moves a ticket to the next lane.
  3. 3Runs on any screen with a browser, such as a TV, a tablet or an old laptop.

Cancellations reach the kitchen

When staff cancel an order at the counter and give a reason, its tickets are removed from the kitchen display straight away, so the line stops preparing it.

The cancellation and its reason are written to the audit log, where the owner can review them.

Printed KOT slips

Many kitchens in Nepal work from printed KOT and BOT slips. You can already set up network, USB and Bluetooth printers and route them by station or category. The driver that prints slips directly to a thermal printer is not built yet, so today the kitchen works from the screen.

How it connects

Where kitchen tickets come from

The kitchen reads the order the POS created. Nobody re-types it onto a slip, and when the order changes, the ticket changes too.

Kitchen

Turns fired order lines into station tickets and tracks each one from new to ready.

Kitchen display questions

What screen do I need in the kitchen?
Anything with a modern browser: a wall-mounted TV with a stick PC, a tablet on an arm, an old laptop. There is no proprietary display to buy.
Can I keep printing KOT slips?
Not directly to a thermal printer yet. The printer and routing model is in place, and the ESC/POS driver is on the roadmap. Today the kitchen works from the display. If your kitchen only works from paper, tell us.
What happens to the kitchen if the internet drops?
The POS keeps taking orders and queues them on the device, but the kitchen display needs a connection to receive them. A local-network fallback is on the roadmap.
Does a waiter have to tell the kitchen about a cancellation?
No. Cancel the order at the till and its tickets leave the kitchen display. The reason is recorded in the audit log.
